Media And Corporate Communication Division

OBJECTIVES

• To ensure the information on government policies,  programmes and activities through speeches and official statements made by leaders are disseminated to the mass media;

• To ensure government official events receive vast coverage especially in the prime or main media;

• To prepare well planned media coverage for government official events;

• To determine publicity and promotions for programmes and activities carried out by the Department;

• To enhance the execution of good excellence  public relations at Ministries, Departments and government agencies.

FUNCTIONS
The functions of the Media And Corporate Communication Division
are to ;

• manage and carry out strategic public relations and to foster good relations with the media.  Besides that, the division also provides the expertise of advisory and media management services for Ministries, Departments and government agencies.

• assist any Ministry, Department and government agency in operating a Media Centre for official events whether at the state, national or international level. Advisory services and support from the officers to manage and supervise the media centre is an important task of this division.

• ensure Journalists adhere and be placed at a special place for them at any government official functions.  The division will also ensure that every media force has their Media Accreditation Card as well as the organization representative card.

• continually coordinates and supports the function and duty of public relation at every Ministry, Department and government agency. The attachment of the Public Relation Officers at ministries, departments and government agencies are always being co-ordinated and supervised by the division in order to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the government public relations machinery.


• act as media coordinators Parliamentary sessions and  conferences. The Media Centre in Parliament becomes the responsibility of this division and always in operations during the parliament is in session. The division will place it officers and staff to coordinate and assist the Parliament pertaining to media management and publicity.
