OBJECTIVES:
• To provide expert services in visual communications mainly for exhibitions, graphics, multimedia, resource centre and photography towards the achievement of the Department’s objectives.
• To provide expertise and advisory services in the field of visual communications to all government agencies.
• To enhance the understanding of the public on government policies via integrated exhibitions, which combines various activities such as colouring competition , patriotic songs singing competitions and multimedia presentations.
• To manage matters pertaining to documentation and conservation of photographs collected since 1948 in the Department’s photo library and provide reference services and make copies of photographs for use by the Department and the related parties.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
• To plan strategies, quality and effective visual communication programmes for the Department.
• To design and produce multimedia materials for exhibitions, publications and websites.
• To provide photo coverage for use in campaigns, research and resource centre of the Department.
• To produce designs based on the philosophy, thinking, culture and tradition of the country.
• To provide expert services in photography materials procurement and usage as well as for use in its communication resource centre for reference, research and for the nation’s heritage.
THE FUNCTIONS OF VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS DIVISON
EXHIBITION UNIT
• To plan and prepare exhibition storyboard.
• To provide estimates for proposed exhibitions.
• To conduct research and gather information and exhibition materials based on storyboards.
• To plan and handle the booking of exhibition sites and basic facilities.
• To co-ordinate the preparation and implementation of exhibitions at all levels.
• To provide designs and technical specifications for quotations /tenders.
• To prepare annual budget estimates.
• To prepare feedback and value-added proposals.
• To maintain exhibition equipments so that they are always in good condition.
• To prepare monthly/annual reports.
EXTERIOR PUBLICITY UNIT
• To plan and identify sites for exterior publicity materials such as V-shaped Boards, Temporary Board, Billboards and showcases.
• To co-ordinate with the relevant authorities in carrying out outdoor publicity.
• To prepare designs and technical specifications as well as provide technical advice to the Board of Tender/quotation.
• To ensure that the materials used for each exhibition meets the required standards and quality.
• To plan, manage and prepare annual budget.
• To carry out inspection on sites to be used for exterior publicity.
• To monitor and collect information to gauge the effectiveness of exterior publicity activities.
• To control and check the quality of work at the suppliers’ premises.
• To prepare monthly/annual reports.
