INDEPENDENCE CIRCUITS

OBJECTIVES

  • Instil the spirit of patriotism and sense of responsibility to the government whereby the interests of the Nation are deemed to be more important than the interests of the individual/personal interests.
  • To be fully appreciative of the history of the national struggles and to enhance the spirit of gratefulness and loyalty for the services by the country’s leaders and the government.
  • To encourage and inculcate the habit of flying the Jalur Gemilang (national flag) on National Day as a display of patriotism and national pride.
  • To enhance citizens’ sense of responsibility for the safety and security, peace and prosperity of the country.

TARGET

The target audience for this Campaign is the multi-racial society comprising:

  • Non-Bumiputera communities in the urban and rural areas
  • Private sector employees
  • Industrial/Factory workers
  • Members of NGO's
  • Students in Institutions of Higher Learning
  • K3P Members
  • Government Employees/Servants
  • Penggerak Bestari (Smart Transformers)

NATIONAL FLAG INDEPENDENCE CIRCUIT TOURS 2004

The Kembara Merdeka 2004 Programme was launched by YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak (former Deputy Prime Minister) at the Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square), Kuala Lumpur. The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang 2004 Programme was implemented over 3 stages, namely the Peninsula (31 July to 17 August 2004), Sarawak (17 August to 31 August 2004) and Sabah (17 August to 31 August 2004).


NATIONAL FLAG INDEPENDENCE CIRCUIT TOURS 2003

The Kembara Merdeka 2003 Programme was launched by YAB Dato Seri Abdullah Hj. Ahmad Badawi (former Deputy Prime Minister) on 4 August 2003 at Dataran Putrajaya (Putrajaya Square). From Putrajaya, the convoy travelled around Peninsular Malaysia to the North, the East Coast, to the South and ended at KLCC. At the final stage, the Kembara Merdeka 2003 convoy was welcomed by YB Tan Sri Khalil Yaakob, (former Minister of Information) on 17 August 2003. State and District authorities were required to obtain the co-operation of the Government and private agencies throughout the campaign.


NATIONAL FLAG INDEPENDENCE CIRCUIT TOURS 2002

The Kembara Merdeka 2002 Programme was launched by YAB Dato Seri Abdullah Hj Ahmad Badawi (former Deputy Prime Minister) on 27 July 2002 at Dataran Putrajaya (Putrajaya Square) and travelled around Peninsular Malaysia to the South, the East Coast, the North and ended at Sultan Sulaiman Club, Kg. Baru, Kuala Lumpur. At the end of the final stage, the Kembara Merdeka 2002 convoy was welcomed by YB Tan Sri Khalil Yaakob (former Minister of Information) on 8 August 2002.


NATIONAL FLAG INDEPENDENCE CIRCUIT TOURS 2001

The Kembara Merdeka 2001 Programme was successfully launched and carried out. The launching of the Kembara Merdeka 2001 was officiated by YAB Dato Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad (former Prime Minister of Malaysia) on 1 August 2001 at Gate 2 of the Prime Minister’s Department Complex at Putrajaya. The convoy travelled around Peninsular Malaysia to the North, the East Coast, to the South and ended at Dataran Merdeka. At its final stage, the Kembara Merdeka 2001 convoy escorted YAB Dato Seri Abdullah Hj. Ahmad Badawi (former Deputy Prime Minister) from Sungei Besi Toll Plaza to Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square) at 9.00pm on 17 August 2001.
