PUTRAJAYA (May 13): Julina Johan has been appointed as the new Director-General (DG) of the Information Department (JaPen), effective Monday.
JaPen media and corporate communication division, in a statement on Monday said that Julina is the 19th DG, and the second woman ever appointed to lead the department since its establishment in 1945.
Julina, 53, was formerly JaPen deputy DG (digital content) — a post she held since last year.
Throughout her career in public service, Julina, who hails from Johor, has also served at various ministries, including the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development; the Ministry of Federal Territories; the Ministry of Finance; and the Prime Minister’s Department.
“With her extensive experience, knowledge and credibility, it is believed that she will be able to strengthen governance and continue JaPen’s excellence,” the statement said.
The holder of a Master’s degree in Corporate Communications from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Julina joined the public service in 1996 and has vast experience in government public relations and strategic communications.
